Clark was formed in December of 1994 in Sayreville, New Jersey. Aaron was living in Columbus, Ohio at the time and was home for Christmas break. He asked Mark Griffin and Joel Plewa if they wanted to get together and play some music. Chris Partyka called and was invited to jam with them and the rest is history. Over the following six months, they put out a cassette album which came to be called Chicken and Cashews and practiced and played shows whenever Aaron came home. Chris Partyka moved to San Francisco and the band broke up. Aaron moved back to New Jersey and Aaron, Mark, and Joel soon formed another band called Tungsten with Audra Aponte. Eventually that band also broke up and everyone went their seperate ways.

Chris Partyka moved back to New Jersey and Clark reformed and recorded their second album entitled Word Is A Lamp which was released on Milo Finch's fledgling NYC label, Nerdy Kid Comics. Clark toured across the United States in the summer of 1997 playing shows in Denver, Salt Lake City, San Deigo, Phoenix, Austin, among others. When they returned from tour, they made a pact to never do that again and didn't speak to each other for a few months. When they got back together, they began work on a third album tentatively titled Go Metric! and also recorded a special Christmas album Clark Saves Xmas for their friends. Unfortunately, Chris Partyka moved to Florida before Go Metric! was completed. The few finished songs were released as an EP and the band was finally shelved for good. The history of Clark should serve as a cautionary tale for aspiring young musicians.
